We have a mission - to support education reform in public schools by giving students deeper learning experiences. With the constant digital stimulation around us, engaging with this YouTube generation has never been more difficult. Young people today are drawn to the world of online broadcasting and wish to communicate through video with their local and global community. At Touchcast, by supporting their natural communication habits, we are helping to create an environment in which they learn by doing. Hundreds of thousands of students create Touchcast Smart Videos in their classrooms every week—and they have fun doing it.
We are thrilled to support students and teachers, who work so hard with so few resources. Our objective is to improve their lives and education—which is why we make Touchcast Studio available for free to anyone in the public school system. Get the Touchcast iPad app free for educators, and provide your students with a creative tool for hands-on projects in the classroom. Join our innovative teachers' community to support education reform for meaningful learning experiences.
Educators today are required to teach 21st century skills to their students. They are challenged with developing new curriculum and teaching with new tools to meet these needs. Information Literacy, Media Literacy, Communication and Technology Literacy are all skills that children need to acquire. Through the process of using Touchcast, students create Smart Videos to present their work and learn all these skills seamlessly.
When creating a Touchast, students are required to research on the Web for resources to include in their video and learn how to filter this information. They must learn how to plan their Touchcast to engage their audience by writing a script, presenting in front of the camera, filming with the iPad, and editing. Lastly, they share their Touchcast with other students and schools, collaborating in teams during the process and preparing for the future.
Touchcast is proud to power the GlobalCoLab project founded by Brian Jones and built by the Touchcast team. Students from around the world come together to collaborate on world issues impacting their communities, taking the concept of global learning and turning it into a reality. GlobalCoLab (GCL) is connecting children from over 60 classrooms. Students work together on hands-on science projects, document them with Touchcast Smart Videos and provide peer review for each other. To learn more go to www.GlobalCoLab.com
We are regularly invited to educational technology conferences where we receive numerous awards for the best teaching and learning video platform.
